MUSIC ON THE MOUNTAINTOP ANNOUNCES DATES FOR 5TH ANNUAL 3-DAY MUSIC FESTIVAL IN BOONE, NORTH CAROLINA AUGUST 24-26, 2012

Partnership with Railroad Earth To Bring Added Creative To Festival

Music On the Mountaintop, the annual music festival outside Boone, North Carolina has announced that the eclectic festival will return this August 24-26, 2012 as Railroad Earth's Music on the Mountaintop. Celebrating its fifth year, Music on the Mountaintop is expanding to include three full days of music, including two nights of Railroad Earth and other special events on Sunday with the band. Having played the previous two Music on the Mountaintop festivals the Americana-based band will be taking on a bigger role, helping to curate the lineup for 2012. More artists and festival details will be announced in the coming weeks. 

Union County communities win N.C. Main Street honors

UNION COUNTY - Commerce Secretary J. Keith Crisco presented 21 awards to participants in the N.C. Main Street Program last week and the City of Monroe and Town of Waxhaw received two of those honors, a release from the Governors office said.

Waxhaw's Downtown Branding Charrette won the Organization category for the 2011 N.C. Small Town Main Street Awards.

Nathan Kirby with Downtown Monroe was named a 2011 Main Street Champion.

The Queen City Brewers Festival (QCBF) IS Charlotte on Tap. Premiering at the Neighborhood Theatre (511 E. 36th Street, Charlotte, NC, 28205), on Saturday, February 4, 2012, QCBF is exclusive to the Charlotte-area breweries that are putting the Queen City on the craft beer map. The event will feature a diverse selection of beer styles and flavors to taste and learn about from official brewery representatives.

SALISBURY - Four students in Catawba College’s Artist Development Program will offer 2 p.m. performance on Sunday, Nov. 20 in the lobby of Hoke Hall on campus. 

Students Allijah Motika of Asheville, Olivia Albertson of Thomasville, Caleb Casper of Waxhaw and Alex Gage of Harrisburg will offer different selections, ranging from deep Southern Country to Techno.

The Artist Development Program focuses on the growth of Popular Music students who aspire to be musicians and potential recording artists. The Nov. 20th performance is free and open to the public.
