Geese shot with arrows, reward offered for information

INDIAN TRAIL, NC (WBTV) - Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of who ever is responsible for shooting geese or other animals with arrows in Indian Trail neighborhoods.

The rescue group says several geese have been found shot with arrows in and around the
Sheridan neighborhoods over the last year.

Crystal Gegelman made the first discovery - a dead bird shot in the back with an arrow floating in her subdivision's pond.

"I saw this bright colored object..it was the feathery part of the arrow," Gegelman said. "I thought what kind of evil person would do this to a poor goose."

Since then, wildlife experts say there have been a handful of reports in the Sheridan and Taylor Glen neighborhoods about other injured geese.

According to NCDOT Spokeswoman Jen Thompson, it was an older sign that has to be unlocked in order to change the message.

But, Thompson says the prankster did not need any special tools or skills: the sign was not locked. Someone simply opened it and retyped the message to say "Impeach Obama"
